School Partnerships
School-based Mental Health
Is your child having a hard time with their peers? Are they struggling to focus? Have their grades started to drop?
We specialize in partnering with schools and school counselors to provide licensed, professional, therapeutic care for children. We recognize the changes in hectic lifestyles and the demands that families face today. School based therapy allows for the children to receive therapeutic care at the school site, while parents are able to complete the work day. ICS values the entire family system and although the child is seen predominantly in the school setting a monthly time with parents is necessary and can be accomplished the majority of the time outside of the working hours.
We offer multiple settings for therapy: At home with tele-therapy good for holidays and snow days, no need to miss therapy, in the office during and after school, and in the schools that will allow us to work with your child.
If you are interested in pursuing therapeutic care for your child, please talk to your child’s school counselor and complete the paperwork.
We offer mental health assessments and counseling for children at over 50 schools in 7 counties in the greater Des Moines area.

Our licensed therapists provide trauma-informed care through a variety of means including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT). These programs help relieve many types of psychological distress, for all ages.
Play Therapy
Play Therapy is not the same as regular, everyday play. While spontaneous play is a natural and essential part of the developmental process, Play Therapy is a systematic and therapeutic approach. Play Therapists are licensed mental health professionals with extensive training, supervision, and education in Play Therapy. Play Therapy incorporates a growing number of evidence-based practices and techniques to help clients prevent or resolve psychosocial difficulties and achieve optimal growth and development.
